The Sustainability Training Institute (STI) was created in response to a demand for professional development opportunities for industry professionals in need of sustainability training, advanced students who want to supplement their university education with sustainability training, and faculty and staff who need sustainability training to integrate into classes or implement on campus.

The STI was founded by Nancy E. Landrum, Ph.D., a university professor with over 25 years of teaching, research, and consulting experience in sustainability management. STI courses were developed by instructional designers in collaboration with subject matter experts (both industry professionals and university professors) and are continuously updated to keep pace with changing trends.
